“Will you stay—for me?”
“The Hong Kong we once knew no longer exists...”
"I" am preparing to emigrate to Taiwan. To bid farewell, I revisit the restaurants that hold personal meaning—reliving the "taste of Hong Kong in memories." Unexpectedly, I run into my ex-girlfriend "Her" near my old neighborhood.
After years apart, our feelings reignite. She suggests we plan "The Last 100 Meals Before Emigration"—to leave without regrets. But this journey of bittersweet meals stirs a complicated mix of nostalgia and rekindled love, leaving me torn in uncertainty...
Stay or leave—how do you decide when the future is so unclear?
Unable to stay, and yet unable to leave—like a prairie engulfed in fire...
Treasure the people in front of you, and treasure every meal—any one of them could be the last.
“The Last 100 Meals Before Emigration” is adapted from multimedia creator Ho Goo's original story of the same name, featured in his literary work "The Taste of Hong Kong in Memories". The play captures the emotional landscape of Hong Kong's recent wave of emigration—where you might see reflections of yourself and those you love.
This special edition at the Taipei Fringe Festival differs from its original Hong Kong premiere. Presented in the form of an immersive "dining theatre", the show takes place in “JUNTO”, a fine Cantonese dining restaurant recently listed in the Michelin Guide.
Audiences will enjoy Junto’s elegant cuisine at a special rate while watching a moving, Hong Kong-flavored stage play performed by Hong Kong actors.
Curated Tasting Menu:
1. Hong Kong Herbal Tea Cocktail
2. Jellied Crab Terrine Jewels
3. Chef's Signature Char-Siu
4. Double Boiled Abalone Fish Maw & Melon Soup
5. Sweet and Sour Pork with Hawthorn Sauce
6. Nu Er Hong drunken Giant Freshwater Prawn
7. Chef's Spicy Flavor Chicken Pot
8. Stir-fried Flat Rice Noddle
9. Shaved ice with Mango Pomelo Sago
All attendees will receive a “Taste of Hong Kong” souvenir. Some may even be invited to take part in the performance!
