A magician family in Mexico that performs fire-juggling; a group of wrestling women; the notes of a serial killer; the tunnel, the wind and the guardians of the rocks. Massive flocks of birds exchanging signals with one another in mid-flight; a proponent of kamikaze tactics utters, before committing seppuku with a dull sword: “Now all is said and done, I may doze for millions of years.” A speaker presents the filming process of a travelogue in front of an enormous screen, alternating between the roles of director and actor - perhaps he is fabricating the imaginary notes of the director. He casts unknown signals to the audience, initiating a new live-art event.
The Landless Events has been a three-year collaboration project with a Mexican security company and single-cell prisoners in the U.S. to create a visual series between experimental documentary and fictional fables. Participants follow a script and enact actions: go to a Bulls bar, step onto a boat, perform with strangers, fall into deep sleep, broadcast cryptic political messages to the world, like a numbers station in the late night.
Ghost Mountain Ghost Shovel Art Collective
Ghost Mountain Ghost Shovel Art Collective (2009-Now) which led by director Val Lee, creates live works that build constructed ephemeral situations where the audience enters a poetic constellation of action script, installation, sound, hypnotic rhetoric, composite structure, mise-en scène, and space. Their works currently focus on human conditions, urban violence, political turmoil, body memories of the unusual state, abstruse historical reenactment, and the diversified modes of psychological absorption and participation for public audiences. Through the continuous collaborations of friends from visual arts, performing arts, experimental music, and activism, their interdisciplinary yet site-responsive works form some dialogue and resistance in a dream.
