“Every man has a hole waiting to be filled.”
Two young men, both gay but worlds apart. One lives in the not-so-distant past, the other in the not-so-distant future; one longs for love and sex but to no avail because of his fear of coming out, the other is a playboy but cannot get the man he desires. Each adrift in his longing until a ‘dick hole’ in a toilet of Taipei Main Station connects their worlds. Will this hole, which only language and body fluids can pass through, fill up the void in their hearts?
Glory Hole stems from last year’s playwriting project in the Festival, in which playwrights are invited to develop a work centered on Taipei Main Station. Playwright Lin Meng-Huan (Dazi) and director Chen Yow-Ruu (Her Lab Space) collaborate to tell a story of youth, longing and restlessness, revealing the reality of the times, of love lived and lost.
