ABout the Show
Classical music, light puppetry, and magical theater open the door to dreams and reality, and set out on a journey of love and growth! On her journey, guided by the Light Fairy, Titi experienced a series of unexpected sights, from meeting her grandparents in the "Kingdom of Memories," to encountering the Night Queen in the "Palace of the Night," to seeing the God of Time in the "Future Kingdom." Will she be able to successfully bring back the happy blue bird? Join us in the theater to find out! This performance is based on the classic fairy tale "The Blue Bird" by Nobel Prize winner Maurice Maeterlinck, adapted into a musical theater by the Sandingpang Theater. It perfectly blends classical music, light puppetry, masks, and special effects, creating a poetic and fantastic journey tailor-made for Taiwanese families, full of surprises in the search for happiness. This performance not only plays with light and shadow, experiments with sound and special effects, and smoothly transitions between various scenes using transparency and reflection, but also uses live music performances to lead the audience on an adventure that is at times happy, at times thrilling, and at times touching, while uncovering the true happiness hidden beneath the surface.
Theatre de la Sardine
Theatre de la Sardine was founded in 2005 by Chao-Chi Ma who trained at École internationale de théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris. The company’s name comes from the French word ‘Saltimbanque’, which means street performer, clown and entertainer. Theatre de la Sardine uses mask, clowning, mime, objects and music to create a new form of contemporary Asian physical theatre. For us, theatre is like a mirror that reflects the truth of the society that we live in. Our goal is to create poetic, accessible, entertaining productions for a wide audience. We try to reveal the extraordinary hiding in the ordinary, to find poetry in everyday life. We always work in a collective way, with the actors, in the rehearsal room. We believe that Actor is the center of the creating process. By pushing the boundary of the actors’ capability, we can finally reach outstanding artistic quality and finding new possibilities with each project.
