Japan Women's College of Physical Education

Japan Women's College of Physical Education began offering a specialized dance course in 1967. Since then, many graduates have joined the program, which is now part of the Department of Dance in the College of Physical Education, offering a curriculum that allows students to study dance from the perspectives of “physical education”, “pedagogy" and "art," and to obtain a bachelor's degree in dance upon graduation. Students learn practical skills in ballet, modern dance, contemporary dance, jazz dance, and dance creation, as well as methodologies for applying these skills to physical education, the arts, education, and welfare. Many graduates are active as professional dancers and educators in Japan and abroad.
