Workshop Description

Mix-Remix

In Mix-Remix, Leu Wijee shares his artistic approach, research and practices, drawing on recent projects such as RIDDEN, known for its fresh physical aesthetics, and massageXgossip, which highlights an alternative relationship between movement and text.

Participants are expected to expand their ways of thinking, sensing, and reasoning while working with various elements, such as movement, voice, sound, and objects. These serve as tools to disturb fixed narratives and transform complex research and influences into interdisciplinary work.

As participants learn from one another and have fun, they question, connect, experiment, and populate the space together, based on unexpected encounters.

About the Artist

Born in Parigi, Central Sulawesi. Leu Wijee is a self-taught Indonesian artist, choreographer and dancer, based between Palu and Yogyakarta. His artistic practice explores the concept of mix-remix, often using choreographic thinking as a starting point to bring together various elements—senses, spaces, sounds, objects, and more—into intersection. Although the body is his primary medium, he sees anything that moves as resonant with his way of working.

In recent years, he has participated in various programs and festivals, including Tainan Arts Festival (2025) Tainan; Kyoto Experiment, Echoes Now (2025) Kyoto; Artist in Residence of Kinosaki International Arts Center (2025) Kinosaki; Produksi Karya Inovatif Yayasan Kelola (2025) Yogyakarta; Bangkok International Performing Arts Meeting (2025) Bangkok; twice Indonesian Dance Festival (2024, 2022) Jakarta; and Asia Discovers Asia Meeting for Contemporary Performance (Kitchen, 2023) (2024, Artist Lab) Bangkok and Taipei respectively; Taitung Fringe Festival (2023) Taitung; Stre@m - An Asian Dance Digital Platform (2022-2023) Seoul and Singapore; Farm Lab Exhibition Tokyo Festival (2021) Tokyo, among others. Throughout his career, Leu's performances have taken place in different settings, such as in blackbox, gallery, Japanese traditional house, studio, digital platforms and other alternative space. In addition, he has worked with and performed in the work of other artists, including Eun Me Ahn (2022) and Jecko Siompo (2014-2019).
