Serena Magiliw is a transfeminist practice-based counter narrator from Manila, Philippines. Engaged with drama, performance, and cultural work; she challenges dominant narratives through lived experience and embodied knowledge of excluded identities—inviting deeper understanding of resistance against cistems of power.

A fellow of the first cohort of Shift the Narrative by Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Rights-Asia & Pacific where she produced the workshop-performance The Trans Actor. In 2021, she conducted a performance research titled Rampa at the Asian Performing Arts Camp and the following year, she directed the exploratory performance What Does it Mean to Be Queer and Asian? for the Farm-Lab Exhibition at the Tokyo Festival Farm. She wrote KASARIAN 101 for New Perspectives Theater Company in New York City; and has contributed as a performance artist with SIPA-Pinas and the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design, among others.

Magiliw founded Trans Midya, an independent creative platform for Filipino trans and non-binary artists focused on equipping the trans being of personhood; one of the board of directors of Langgam Performance Troupe; a member of The Society of Trans Women of the Philippines; and one of the Membership and Alliance Coordinator of the Concerned Artists of the Philippines.
