"This children's play openly explores life and death without avoidance."
The Little Attendant of Sunny Sky is adapted from the novel of the same name by Golden Tripod Award-winning children's literature author Zhe Ya.
The story follows a young boy named Qingkong (which means Sunny Sky), who is searching for his deceased sister. He accidentally stumbles into a building "Mo Guai Lou", a mysterious institution full of creatures and beasts. He is unexpectedly appointed as the "Little Attendant of Clear Sky."
In this strange world, he encounters all kinds of ghosts—some fearful, some shy, and some naughty and playful. With patience, wisdom, and kindness, he starts to help them reclaim their lost warmth and hope step by step. After all, those creatures were moved by his kindness, they set out to accompany him to find his lost sister.
FengShen Baobao transforms ghost stories into heartwarming tales, uncovering the power of kindness within fear. “Little Attendant of the Sunny Sky” uses a light and subtle approach to touch on themes of life, death, and separation—topics that even adults are still learning to navigate. It also teaches the important lesson of how to treat others with kindness."
Troupe Leader Chen Chao-Hsien hopes "Don't need to always have to speak in a childish
way or assume kids will not understand. With a little creativity, a good story will allow them to take in the messages.”
