2025 TCAF: Community-My Dear Princess

★ Adapted from The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

★ Exploring the importance of "relationships" and "loss" with parents and children.

The story of My Dear Princess is an adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s The Little Prince, exploring the themes of "relationships/connection" and "death/loss."

In the story, a young princess’s father tells her he must travel to Planet B612. Though she doesn’t understand where or what that means, he promises they will meet again.  Until then, her father asks her to listen to her mother because she is his beloved little princess.

After her father secretly leaves, the sky gets darker, and the stars close their eyes. The princess goes to her mother, but her mother seems unable to understand, only shedding tears. Looking up at the stars, the princess knows she can still find the mythical Planet B612 and reunite with her father. Along her journey, she meets a pilot who tells her countless stories and witnesses many roses falling. Through this adventure, the princess learns what truly matters in her life.

This adaptation uses the princess’s perspective to explore the deep topics of loss and connection. The show aims to provide a space for parents and children to openly discuss the importance of relationships and the complexities of loss. It seeks to ease the awkwardness and fear often associated with death, replacing them with a broader understanding and imagination of what it means to lose someone.

The Comeback Company

"How many times in life can we truly enjoy ourselves? If we're not happy, why wait?"

The Comeback Company was officially established in 2020, with the idea that life is short and we should embrace happiness whenever we can. They see every performance as a special chance to connect with the audience, hoping that even after parting, they can reunite again in the future.

The team’s creative work focuses on environmental theatre, using black humor to explore serious topics and combining dramatic, colorful, and funny elements to show the truth of society. They aim to keep an open-minded and flexible attitude while engaging with the world. Besides, one of their main themes is "illness," and they want to create works that are both meaningful and artistic.

Since 2022, the troupe has been recognized by the Taoyuan City Government as one of the most promising young performing arts groups in the area, and it continues to grow and thrive.
