“Ever since my little sister Alice was born, Mom and Dad don’t love me anymore.”
The moment that thought appeared,Alex suddenly realizes that he has become a big brother , whose shoulders weighed down with so many invisible responsibilities. He wanted to hide so badly—to crawl into a little hole where he wouldn’t have to grow up,where he wouldn’t have to give in or give way. Just then, the white rabbit doll suddenly spoke, and before Alex knew it, he slipped into a pipe.
Drip, drip—his tears fell, and the water slowly began to rise.
Splash, splash—voices echoed around him: “Stop crying. Big brother has to be brave.” But…why is life so hard?
Why are there so many “whys” in his head?, he suddenly becomes a big brother with so many invisible responsibilities on his shoulders. He longs to hide himself away in a tiny hole where he doesn’t have to grow up and yield to his little sister. At that moment, the white rabbit doll suddenly speaks, and Alex slips down the drain by accident. As Alex is crying his eyes out, the water slowly rises. Everyone says, “Stop crying. You’re a big brother now and you must be brave.” Nevertheless, why is life so hard? Why are there so many questions in his head?
Why is my little sister always crying?
Why is Mama Red Heart always so stern?
Why is there a little dog in the sky, smiling at me so brightly?
Alex in Wonderland begins with the ordinary rhythms of a child’s day, then quietly slips reality into a dream.
Watch as a young boy transforms the grown-ups around him into characters—strange, yet familiar—using his wonderfully imaginative mind to turn heavy thoughts into playful scenes that feel both magical and close to home.
Produced by the Comeback Company, the set on stage feels like something straight out of a childhood art class—full of playful colors, handmade textures, and the kind of imaginative charm only children create. The costumes resemble props casually thrown on in the middle of play, and the actors move with a lightness, as if they’re singing their way through a game.
Drawing from the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland, the piece channels a child’s boundless imagination, transforming what might have been heavy, difficult feelings into a series of playful scenes—tender, curious, and close to everyday life.
The Comeback Company
Founded in 2020, the company embraces the spirit of “Life offers only so many moments of intoxication—why not rejoice while we can?” With a gaze that smiles through both joy and sorrow, the company cherishes every encounter with its audience as something fleeting, yet profoundly meaningful—like a once-in-a-lifetime meeting.
Rooted in the principles of total theatre and environmental theatre, the company deconstructs serious issues through black humor, brought to life in a vivid, playful, and boldly exaggerated theatrical style. Looking ahead, the company continues to explore stories of family, illness, and social experience through a free, flexible, and adaptive creative approach.
