Good day, everyone.
I am Fangas Nayaw, it’s a great pleasure to meet you all here.
What we bring to you today, is the second part of La XXX Punk, titled Betel Nut Green.
Every part of the La XXX Punk series starts with a manifesto. This is because the series is our search to think about how indigenous dance can be in the future. It will be different, and must be different because we are fed up with how popular imagination of the indigenous dance is limited to certain selected highlights and images.
So here we go.
MANIFESTO
The vivid underneath is quietly disappearing.
The land is hill green, tree green.
The green seen in the park or on the green screen.
1. The non-natural is part of life.
2. Climax is illusionary.
3. Tradition is individual.
4. Effortlessness is misleading.
5. Bound flow movement releases the body.
6. An aging body holds experience.
7. Homogeneity is a myth.
8. Culture lies in daily life.
9. Disappearance happens quietly.
10. Glitch is a gift.
Fist & Cake Production
Fist & Cake Production was founded by choreographer I-Fen Tung and stage director Fangas Nayaw. Fascinated by the taxis and movement of "people" in "society" and "nature", the group continues to explore the natural world, aiding humans in society to voice their whims out loud. Fist & Cake Production was founded to extract the inner foundations of performing arts, to explore the diversity of the ever-growing, ever-moving contemporary arts. Their spectrum of work includes but is not limited to: theater, dance, exhibition, installations, sounds, multimedia, film and text; presentations are displayed using mixed diverse materials.
