The work, First Son, is about how I embody my gender identity within my family. It all began when I recalled the funeral of my grandmother, Su Liang-Shen.
I was born in 1985, the Year of the Rat. Now I am 42 and still exploring my transness in the halftime. Since I am the only child in my family, I seem to be allowed to perform between the expressions of the gender binary. I would like to revisit and share these moments that not only transcended gender norms but were acquiesced.
