2023 TCAF-Fun Fair《The Secret Words by Skaru Sprites》

2023-07-01 - 2023-07-01

"The Secret Words by Skaru Sprites" Presented by the TaoShan Elementary School Choir, this performance features traditional indigenous chants and beloved songs, marking the beginning of the "2023 Taipei Children's Art Festival - Art Paradise."

Hawngu’ Utux (Traditional Atayal Chant)
The Atayal people believe that after death, they must cross the Bridge of the Deities (rainbow) to reach the land without tears - heaven. The Bridge of the Deities cannot be crossed by just anyone; there are ancestral spirits guarding the bridge, and those without facial tattoos cannot pass. Those who were not righteous in life cannot step onto the Bridge of the Deities. Even if they forcibly cross, they will fall into the abyss and be devoured by the monsters within. Only those who are virtuous, righteous, and live by the principles of "gaga" can reach the other side of the Bridge of the Deities.

Kipahpah Ima (Traditional Bunun Chant)
In the Bunun language, "kipahpah" means clapping, and "ima" refers to the number five, representing the five fingers of the hand. This song is sung by the tribe during Sunday worship, welcoming all brothers and sisters to the church and glorifying God.

Happy Paradise
When Taipei Zoo relocated from Yuanshan to Muzha in 1986, hundreds of thousands of people lined the streets to bid farewell, making it a significant event of the year. "Happy Paradise" was created for the zoo's relocation and is a rare Chinese song with a theme of animal conservation. It has become a well-known song.

You Raise Me Up
In the midst of an uncontrollable epidemic, the voices of the children from TaoShan become a small but warm light. Inside the protective shield of Taiwan, we feel safe, yet we cannot bear to ignore the world outside the shield, where there are outbreaks, colonization/anti-colonization struggles, and turmoil. While alarms are sounding worldwide, we long for hope amidst fear. With a little warmth, hope arises! Let us be fearless and have confidence to overcome this difficult time. This wave of the epidemic has caused irreparable losses to human lives and the economy. Therefore, we need more tolerance, humility, and self-reflection in our words and actions, as we look at our world, because we need an indestructible love that can be seen.

This Summer This song is the designated piece for the choir music competition. Through this song, we hope that everyone can cherish the time and appreciate everyone around them.
