2024TCAF:Exhibition-Time-Less Secret Hideouts

Exhibition
2024-06-29 - 2024-07-28

About the Exhibition

Play until we forget time, and even forget what time means.
But how did we first learn about time?

An hour consists of sixty minutes, a day consists of twenty-four hours, a week consists of seven days, and a year consists of twelve months.
Can we pause for a moment?
At the secret hideout, I live in my own time. Where will I go on Day Eight of the week? What will I do during my thirtieth hour?

Every kid has a secret hideout of their own.
A secret hideout is a “fantasy playground” full of imagination, like Peter Pan’s Neverland, where we can always feel safe and believe in our magic. It can be a closet, a table, or even a big cardboard box. Embrace the magic of imagination within your secret hideout, and set out to explore your own treasure.

Design Concept

Artists Zheng Xuan-xun and Wu Zi-jing are specially invited to curate this exhibition. In the open spaces of Taipei Performing Arts Center, we use interactive exhibitions as the structure to co-create the secret hideouts with kids. We invite both adults and children to join us in experiencing and exploring the stories of those secret hideouts!

◉ Exhibition Overview

Secret hideouts of various themes are built at the outdoor plaza and 2F public places of TPAC. Visitors are free to arrange their own experience sequence and complete the challenge tasks in any order they prefer.
【 South Piazza 】
小屋遊戲區Opening Hours: 12:00-18:00
The plaza transforms into a playground, offering wooden cabins for kids to explore freely. Surrounding the area are various game zones sprawled across the lush lawn, where children can play at leisure or sit with friends on the grass to enjoy concerts and share joyful moments.
【2樓太陽廳東南角展區】
Opening Hours: 12:00-18:00 Inside the Sun Hall, blank white walls eagerly await a burst of color. Here, we invite children to unleash their creative flair by adorning these walls with graffiti, painting visions of their dream homes, and infusing vibrant hues into our secret hideout.
【2F, public space】
Opening Hours: 12:00-21:00
There’s an independent bookstore here! Among its shelves lies an honest collection of second-hand children’s books, open for anyone freely. We extend a warm invitation to everyone to contribute to this communal exchange by bringing along their own books, nurturing a culture of sharing and collective enrichment.
