Company Profile
Cimarrón is one of Colombia’s most iconic and internationally acclaimed music groups. Founded in 2000 by the late master folk harpist Carlos Rojas and lead vocalist Ana Veydó, the ensemble specializes in *Joropo*—a traditional music genre from the Eastern Plains of Colombia. Joropo blends Indigenous, African, and Spanish Andalusian influences, characterized by dynamic melodies, powerful rhythms, and virtuosic musicianship.Following the passing of Carlos Rojas in 2020, Ana Veydó has continued his legacy, maintaining the soul of traditional music while exploring new creative directions. Cimarrón’s high-energy performances feature harp, bandola, cuatro, bass, percussion, vocals, and even include foot-stomping dance, creating a vibrant and visually captivating show. With concerts across more than 30 countries on four continents, the group has received global recognition. They were nominated for a GRAMMY Award in 2005 for Best Traditional World Music Album and performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony in 2016.
