About the Performance

Since its premiere in 1986, "Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land" has been performed continuously for 40 years, and has been reported by the New York Times as "the most popular work in the contemporary Chinese world" and is one of the most influential classics in the history of Chinese theater. The work uses the "play within a play" structure of the tragedy "Secret Love" and the comedy "Peach Blossom Land " juxtaposed on the same stage, intertwining personal emotions, historical torrents and absurd realities, introducing a unique stage language and accompanying countless audiences into the theater.
Over the past 40 years, it has adapted more than 30 editions, toured more than 60 cities around the world, and performed more than 2,000 times, starting from Taiwan to the international stage, becoming a theater memory shared across generations.
 In 2026, [Performance Workshop] will launch  "Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land-Heritage Edition ", bringing a new cast of 40th anniversary inheritance version, inviting actors from different generations such as Sui Tang, Ariel Lin, and Chen Handian to perform on the same stage, retaining the spirit of the original work while injecting new vitality, allowing this classic to continue to grow and lead the audience to experience the throbbing and emotion of the theater for the first time.
