“Hey! Can We Be Friends?”

A heartwarming puppet performance adapted from a beloved Thai picture book, warmly inviting children and parents into the theater together!

Based on a classic work by renowned Thai picture book author Preeda Punyachand , this gentle and poetic story has accompanied generations of Thai children as they grow. The performance designed especially for children aged from 3 to 7, the performance invites parents to share in a meaningful, imaginative experience with their children.

On a quiet night when all creatures are asleep, the lonely Moon sets off in a small spaceship, determined to find a friend. Traveling through the darkness of space, the Moon visits Earth and encounters different animals along the way. However, each meeting goes awry—the animals are startled from their sleep and, in their anger, damage the Moon’s spaceship. The Moon’s spaceship becomes more and more worn, until it finally crashes into the deep sea. There, the Moon is welcomed by the starfish, they patiently teach the Moon how to connect with others, and how to build friendships with care and understanding. Through this gentle accompany, the Moon finally finds companionship. Together, they return to space—and the Moon is no longer alone.

Thai Director Sirikarn Bunjongtad (Jae) ’s artistic style is infused with warmth, surprise, and quiet comfort—qualities that invite audiences of all ages to slow down and feel deeply. The performance combines multiple forms of puppetry, including hand puppets and shadow play. Puppeteers animate the story through movement, live singing, and physical performance, enhancing both the emotional texture and sensory richness of the show.
