The Heart is a Room

Performance Art|
2026-08-16 - 2026-08-30
The performance space becomes a heart.

You will move through four chambers and, as a participant, experience a complete cycle: listening → responding → writing → resonating.

It begins with a news event in the UK: the tragedy of an Asian female international student.
This news story becomes the trigger for the work, rather than something to be re-enacted. Through sound, moving image, objects, and audience participation, the project reconsiders how public narratives shape the meaning of the female body.

Five women who previously took part in the creative process in the UK left traces of their responses through drawing, objects, and bodily movement. The exhibition places their creative processes alongside the works they produced, accompanied by sound installation, multi-channel video, and an experimental short film. It guides audiences from listening to looking, and then into writing — inviting you to join an unfinished conversation in your own words.

Each passage through the space becomes a singular creative encounter: a sensory journey through bodily autonomy and responses to trauma.

This project is not psychotherapy, nor does it ask you to disclose personal experience. It is an artistic invitation: within a bounded time, to allow your emotions to be seen and held. Your experience will not be reduced or judged, but allowed to remain in fragments, gestures, and silences.
The Feels Lab
The Feels Lab is a collective formed by artists and curators. Its core members include artist Chen-Yen Hung, along with curators Poe Liu and Chris Yao from CirCurate.

As a cross-disciplinary collaboration that brings together performance art and curatorial narrative, The Feels Lab explores the entanglement among performance, exhibition, and audience participation. We seek to build a space of safety for audiences, where emotions can be approached, held, and shared; a scene in which feeling becomes something that can be witnessed, experienced, and observed.
