A star-studded cast of outstanding young opera performers comes together in this critically acclaimed production. Chen Chao-Hsien, Wu Yi-Hsuan, and Chen Shu-Yen all come from renowned opera families and have accumulated extensive stage experience since childhood. Joining them is Lin Chih-Ling, champion of Taiwan’s prestigious “Ge-A-Hi Chheng” Singing Competition. Together, they deliver an exceptional display of vocal artistry and theatrical excellence.
Specially created for a new generation of traditional theatre artists, Midnight Fragrance unfolds aboard a luxurious pleasure boat converted from an ancient vessel. Three strangers from vastly different backgrounds find themselves entangled in a shocking murder mystery. As love, wealth, and imperial orders collide, they must uncover the truth before the ship reaches shore—and, in doing so, discover a path out of their own personal darkness.
Company Profile
Founded in 2007, Po-You Theatre is led by core artists Hsu Po-Ang and Wang Chen-Hua, both of whom are trained in contemporary theatre and traditional Chinese opera. Collaborating with outstanding young theatre professionals, the company explores innovative approaches to performance through genre experimentation and original scripts, creating a distinctive theatrical language rooted in Taiwan’s cultural landscape. To date, Po-You Theatre has produced 36 original works.
