2022TAF:Think Bar "M(Other)hood: Camping"

“M(Other)hood: Camping is a process of production of the extension of a body of a touch of care of peace-making of time of death of life of hybrid of queering of heritage of transformation of mother of mothering of motherhood.”

How has the notion of the mother become a social binary construction? How could mothering be an artistic practice? In what ways is mothering a queer practice and what is between Motherhood and Otherhood? With ongoing research and practices as real-life mothers, artists Scarlet Yu and I-Fen Tung conceive this work-in-progress work as mothering-in-progress, pivoting motherhood as artistic production.

Scarlet Yu Mei Wah, Hong Kong/Germany

Hong Kong-born Dance artist, lived in Singapore, Paris and currently Berlin. Her choreography presents in various contexts and forms, navigating the in-betweenness of the political and the poetic of the narrative listening and telling. Taking Autobiography and Memory as a tool to reexamine private/public embodied narration.

Tung I-Fen, Taiwan

Tung I-fen is Joint Artistic Director of Fist & Cake Production and a lecturer at a number of universities in Taiwan. Tung performs or makes choreography in various contexts, including dance, theatre, film, contemporary music and technical art, among others, while laying her artistic practices in the agency and intersections of humanity, society and nature.

M(Other)hood: Camping is initiated and devised by Scarlet Yu Mei Wah in collaboration with Tung I-Fen. 
Taipei Performing Arts Center has supported and presented the research progress as part of the ADAM - Asia Discovers Asia Meeting for Contemporary Performance in 2021 and as part of the Think Bar program at the 2022 Taipei Arts Festival.
