"The Illusion of a Wall" originates from the artist’s experience of blurred vision caused by a corneal injury. Within this sensory defocus, the work opens up multiple dimensions of memory. Using the eye as the starting point, it investigates vision as a core sense through which we comprehend the world, and constructs a new operational system of reality—where humans and machines, memory and forgetting, absence and reconstruction coexist.
Interweaving cinematic, poetic imagery with live performative actions, the piece invites the audience not merely as distant observers, but as participants summoned into the subtle terrains of the soul. Pangutrial
"Pangutrial" is a transdisciplinary art studio founded in 2021 by Hsieh Chu-Hsun and co-directed with Su Pei-Yu. Rooted in experimentation and creative risk-taking, the Lab explores the intersection of everyday perception, embodied experience, and artistic expression. Its work weaves together new media art, contemporary performance, and music—forming a hybrid platform for boundary-pushing artistic practices.
Located in Beitou, Taipei, the studio also serves as a physical hub for artistic experimentation and alternative presentations. It opens its space to artists across disciplines and media, encouraging cross-pollination of ideas and practices. Through exhibitions, performances, and collaborative projects, the Lab cultivates a dynamic environment where visual and performing arts converge, sparking dialogue between space, media, and culture.
