The Chinese Opera “Legends of the East - Monkey King” is co-produced by Trend Foundation and National Taiwan College of Performing Arts. The story is adapted from the foremost Chinese novel “The Journey to the West”. It excerpts the very first part of the chapters which take place way before Sun Wu Kong, also known as Monkey King, meet the Tang monk and begin their journey. At that time, Wu Kong is a powerful, invulnerable but naughty monkey.

CHU Lu-hao, the Chinese Opera master, is back to stage as the Monkey King. He will lead HSU Ting-Fang, CHIN Lang, and the members from Fu Hshing Jingju Opera Troupe and Department of Jingju of National Taiwan College of Performing Arts to perform together on the newly created dazzling stage, sometimes wild and unrestrained and sometimes humorous with hippy style. This performance will take the audience to travel from the Sea to the Heaven and show the ever-changing Monkey King.
