Chen Yu-Dien lives and works in Taipei as a director and a performance maker working across the theatre. His direction works have diverse themes, includingtraditional Chinese opera, magic, exhibition, live art, and interdisciplinary performances. 

He considers the theater as an environment to pull and show the "vulnerability" of human beings. Fascinated by its dynamic and fragility, his works emphasize sensual feelings and perceptions beyond speech within the intricate structure. His artworks dissolve the boundaries between "performing" and "watching." Through mise-en-scène, interaction and prohibition, the relationship between the audience and the performer constantly shifts, creating a “frameless" performance that should be focused directly and closely, which can be related to the real world.

Yu-Dien's works have been presented in the Festival OFF Avignon, Melbourne Fringe, Taipei Arts Festival, Taipei Children's Arts Festival, Taipei Performing Arts Center, National Taichung Theater, and National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts.
