Department of Ethnomusicology, Nanhua University
The Department of Ethnomusicology of Nanhua University was established in 2001. It is the only department in Taiwan that covers diverse music cultures and traditions, and performing arts. It aims to cultivate in students a macroscopic artistic vision and thinking, as well as multi-faceted performance skills and creative ability. in 2020 the department has also added a dance-based course to the 2020 undergraduate program, divided into two groups, performance and creation. The department hopes to strengthen students’ integrative ability in inter- disciplinary performing arts, to enhance students’ all-round competitiveness, thereby creating limitless possibilities for them to respond to the diverse society of the future, as well as increase students’ employment opportunities in diverse fields.
