臺北表演藝術中心 公共藝術計畫 | 特殊舞台布幕及指標系統

「劇場魔術師—跨域藝術，無邊想像」是臺北表演藝術中心公共藝術的設置理念：「以劇場魔術師之手，運用充滿趣味的特殊舞台布幕及指標系統，打破劇場和民眾之間的藩籬，讓公共藝術融入劇場」。

其中，大劇場（Grand Theatre）及球劇場（Globe Playhouse）的特殊布幕由跨國團隊設計及製作：前者以獨特布料製作，搭配整體空間的氛圍，帶來華麗的視覺效果；後者由分離式的布幕組成，藉由不同的組合，配合各種演出，在舞台上不同位置創造多樣的模式。

指標系統之圖像，融合臺灣城市景觀，回應建築設計，結合建築空間的材料與構成，營造出多樣的公共體驗。

除了公共藝術作品外，團隊還規劃了「臺前幕後」參與計劃：邀請專家舉辦劇場相關主題之互動講座，以及北藝中心工程參與者肖像計畫，將藝術融入劇場與大眾的生活之中。

1. 特殊布幕

i. 大劇院特殊布幕

作品說明：利用反光質感的織品，以極簡的方式縫接。布幕展開，觀眾看見若隱若現的線條，當舞台燈光亮起，半透光布幕中滲出光影；當布幕移動時，光線更是翩翩起舞的躍動起來。

作品說明：布幕由三部分構成，藉由不同的組合使用，配合舞台需要，可在舞臺開口的不同位置，創造各種不同尺寸的特殊效果。

作品說明：劇場即將開演，大廳裡的裝置漸漸甦醒發亮，將霓虹街景印象延伸進來，閃爍的燈光加速心跳，導引著觀眾走向劇場。然而誰是觀眾？誰是演員？布幕揭開之前，才發現你我的生活日常早已上演。
指標系統以圖像作為通用語言，圖像以「Form Speaks」為概念，簡潔且帶幽默元素，降低文字隔閡，讓使用者移動在空間中依然清楚方向。指標延伸建築材料，平衡美感與機能性，因應各劇場空間變化為適切的呈現，以藝術性打開感知，自然引導，朝向目標。

 

“Theater Magician—Transdisciplinary Arts and Boundless Imagination” is the design concept behind the public artworks for the Taipei Performing Arts Center: “Harnessing the power of a delightful theatrical curtain and sign system, the theater magician lifts the barrier between the theater and the audience, while also allowing public art to blend perfectly with the theater.”

The customized curtains for both the Grand Theater and the Globe Playhouse are designed and produced by transnational teams. The former is made of a unique fabric in concert with the overall ambience of the space, giving the work a gorgeous visual effect. The latter comprises separable curtains, allowing various combinations as required by performances, creating diverse patterns at different locations on stage.

The images of the sign system incorporate Taiwan’s cityscapes, echo the architectural designs of the buildings, and integrate the materials and structure of the architectural spaces, thereby offering a variety of experiences for the public to enjoy.

In addition to these works of public art, the team has organized the program “On Stage, Behind the Scene,” featuring interactive lectures by experts on theater-related topics, as well as portraits of participants in the construction of the Taipei Performing Arts Center, so as to blend art into theater and people’s daily lives.

Artist’s Description: The curtain is made of reflective fabric, stitched together in a minimalist fashion. The audience sees the faintly discernible lines as the curtain unfolds. Light and shadow emerge on the translucent curtain when the stage lights go on. And when the curtain moves, the light dances vibrantly and gracefully.

Artist’s Description: The curtain consists of three parts that can be used in different combinations as required by performances to create special effects at various dimensions in different locations on the stage.

Artist’s Description: As the play is about to start, the installation in the hall gradually comes to life, vividly displaying images of a neon-lit streetscape. The twinkling lights accelerate the spectators’ heartbeats and guide them toward the theater. But who are the spectators? And who are the performers? It is not until the curtain is about to go up that we all realize our everyday lives have been enacted on the screen.

The sign system employs image as a universal language, and the graphic design is based on the concept that “Form Speaks,” communicating with simplicity and a touch of humor, while also eliminating the barrier of text. The system helps visitors to clearly know which way to go no matter where they happen to be in the space. Serving as an extension of the building materials, the sign system strikes a balance between aesthetics and functionality. It can appropriately present itself in response to changes in the theatrical space, artistically opening up spectators’ perceptions and guiding them naturally toward their destination.
