Optional Tour: U-Theatre and its Mountain Theatre
Integrating elements of martial arts, drumming, meditation, Tai Chi guiding, and sacred dance, U-Theatre extensively works with music, drama, literature, dance, and rituals. Through this fusion of Eastern and Western cultures, it aims to transcend the boundaries of ancient and modern times, crafting a distinctive performance style known as the ‘U-Theatre Aesthetics’. U-Theatre’s creations and performances are founded upon a profound sense of musicality, intimately intertwined with bodily awareness and the practice methods of “Dao.” Its uniqueness has also sparked discussions within the international performing arts community.
Since its establishment in 1988, the troupe has been based in the Laoquan Mountain Theater in Muzha, Taipei, which is a place for the members’ life, training and creation, a source of inspiration and the foundation of life. It is also a pure land in the hearts of the public, where you can find pure and rich experience in the exchange of nature and life. This most unique corner of Taiwan has long been valued by world- renowned media such as Discovery Channel and German public television, and broadcasted to the world. In 2007, U-Theater Mountain Theater was registered as a cultural landscape in Taipei.
