Each summer, through a series of focused and intensive performances, the festival showcases the spirit and vitality of performing arts culture and community integration, projecting the image of Taipei as a cultural city onto the international stage."Sun and Sea":Program Information:"Sun and Sea" is an exhibition-opera created collaboratively by three Lithuanian artists, which received the highest honor, the Golden Lion, at the 2019 Venice Biennale. The work portrays a joyful and leisurely beach scene during the summertime while conveying concerns about environmental devastation and climate change. Taipei Performing Arts Center will recreate the scorching sun and sandy beach in the Blue Box Theater from August 19th to 27th, offering an idyllic summer vacation experience. The performance runs for eight days, four hours per day, totaling 32 shows.Program Synopsis:In the scorching summer, people in swimsuits, sunglasses, and sun hats lie or sit on the beach, laughing and enjoying the leisurely summer time.However, as the audience overlooks this beach, they will realize that there is neither sun nor sea. Vocalists lie on the artificial beach, performing in a continuous loop for four hours. According to the tax laws of the Republic of China, if the prize amount exceeds NT$20,000 (inclusive), a 10% income tax on the prize winnings must be paid in accordance with the relevant tax regulations.
